Back off! Manchester United fans tell Barcelona to leave Marcus Rashford alone

[ad_pod ]

Manchester United fans have taken to Twitter to react after it was revealed that Barcelona are interested in making an £100m move for Marcus Rashford.

The England international only has a year remaining on his contract with the Red Devils, although they do hold the option of a 12-month extension – Rashford is yet to agree terms on a new deal despite ongoing talks.

Barcelona’s rivals, Real Madrid, are also interested in signing a man who has impressed under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in a central role, scoring 15 goals for club and country this season.

United have reportedly offered their academy graduate a contract worth £300,000-a-week in a bid to keep him at Old Trafford, signalling their intentions not to lose a good young player with bags of potential yet to be filled.

Understandably, United fans on Twitter are also desperate to keep the 21-year-old, and have taken it upon themselves to issue a hands off warning to the Spanish champions…

Pundit View: Lawrenson hints Wolves could struggle after Wembley defeat

[ad_pod ]

BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson has suggested that Wolves will be hurting and thinks they may struggle to recover after being denied a place in the final of the FA Cup, tipping them to lose 1-0 to Southampton this weekend.

What’s he said?

Wolves have been terrific this season but they suffered their first major disappointment in 2018/19 by crashing out of the FA Cup at the semi-final stage.

Nuno Santo’s men were within minutes of reaching the final but a last gasp Troy Deeney penalty sent the game to extra-time.

The Midlands club ended up then losing the tie as Gerard Deulofeu sealed their fate.

It was extremely tough for Wolves to take but they’ll now have to bounce back and ensure their season doesn’t peter out. That starts with a clash against Southampton this weekend.

Giving his weekly Premier League predictions to BBC Sport, Lawrenson said:

“Wolves also have a big ‘if’ to look back on last weekend. They will be hurting after being 2-0 up with 11 minutes to go in their FA Cup semi-final against Watford – and then losing in extra time.

“What happened at Wembley was one of the few occasions this season where you could look at Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, and think: ‘That is really not like you.’

“So it will be interesting to see whether they can bounce back from that disappointment. We will find out how much it has affected them on Saturday.”

Testing time for Wolves

Could this be Nuno’s biggest test in charge of Wolves? It’ll be incredibly interesting to see just how they bounce back from their heartbreak last weekend, but Lawrenson is right to predict they could struggle, especially against a side battling to stay up.

However, this Wolves team has been full of fight and desire all season so write them off at your peril.

A Wolves fan shares his most gutting moment of the last 10 years supporting the club in the video below…

For the most part, they were brilliant against Watford last Sunday, only to be undone and switch off at pivotal moments.

Wolves’ away form of late also hasn’t been excellent so that could make things even more tougher for them this weekend.

After their last league defeat against Burnley on the road, the club managed to bounce back against Manchester United. They now need to prove themselves in a similar fashion.

Rangers: Surely Scott Arfield has eyes on Southampton move

The last thing Rangers need ahead of a title challenge is to lose some of their greatest assets. Scott Arfield’s departure would set the club back 12 months, but it’s hard to see him rejecting a Premier League move.

The Mirror are claiming Southampton are interested in bringing the Canadian back to England’s top flight. Their sporting director already knows the left midfielder from their time at Falkirk, so it’s not looking promising for the Gers at all.

He’s scored 10 and assisted seven in 25 appearances for Rangers since joining from Burnley in the summer. He’s now become one of Gerrard’s most consistent performers, and the manager will be desperate to keep hold of him this summer.

Surely Arfield wouldn’t reject the move if an offer was to put in. Rangers could try and push the Saints off, but the player would most likely force his way out anyway. The Premier League is the pinnacle and Scotland just simply can’t compete.

He’s now 30-years-old and his time at the top is running out. It’s not like Arfield has another 10 years left of his career to split between winning Rangers their first major trophy since their liquidation and returning to the Premier League. He has to prioritise.

If he goes, Gerrard will have to take another risk on a bargain buy and hope it pays off like Arfield’s move did. The chances of this are slim though, and it’s exactly what Gerrard didn’t want to see happen to the squad he’s building.

Leeds fans gutted as Kemar Roofe is ruled out of Sunday’s game

[ad_pod ]

Leeds fans on Twitter are downbeat after it was confirmed that Kemar Roofe will miss the game against Aston Villa on Sunday.

Spirits were already low around the Yorkshire club following back-to-back losses last week that has left their chances of automatic promotion slim at best.

Now the club have been handed a further blow as their top scorer has been ruled out of one of the biggest matches of the Whites’ season.

Roofe has netted 14 times for United so far this campaign and will be a big miss against the in-form Midlands outfit, who have won ten successive Championship fixtures.

Leeds’ game against Villa truly is their last roll of the dice as a loss against Dean Smith’s side would confirm their place in the play-offs at the end of the season, barring a miracle.

Marcelo Bielsa has utilised Patrick Bamford as his preferred striking option in recent weeks and he is likely to start against Villa this weekend.

Here’s what Leeds fans have been saying on Twitter…

Ben Woodburn would be a brilliant way to start the window for Rangers

Steven Gerrard will surely be expecting to make a number of changes to the Rangers team that once again failed to beat Celtic to first place this season. Sigh.

During his first campaign as manager, Gerrard would be pleased with how his Rangers team performed, yet he also knows the number of improvements he needs to make to get them back to the top. Clearly, it is not going to be easy but with the resources given to him, Steven Gerrard has the contacts and the opportunity to give a player a fine destination to come to.

One player who has been linked previously with a move to Ibrox is Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn, a man who has reappeared on their radar in recent weeks, according to reports from the Scottish Sun late last month.

Woodburn, (who is valued at £4.5 million on Transfermarkt) is well-known to Gerrard as a Liverpool youngster and it’s seemingly obvious that the pair would be glad to link up. If they do, the Gers could be on to something special.

It was believed a loan spell at Sheffield United would do wonders for Woodburn in a bid to escalate his progression but unfortunately, it went the other way and the 19-year-old failed drastically. He made just one start and seven appearances in a spell that lasted just six months, hence the need for Woodburn to rebrand himself at a club like Rangers.

Together, they can rise up.

There will be plenty of competition to sign Ben Woodburn despite his failed loan move, because clubs sense the potential in him to come good in the right team. West Brom are thought to be interested but the last few years have seen exciting young players grow in Scotland, so why not try and play that card?

Surely there’s nowhere better, the Light Blues truly are a massive club.

The 19-year-old specialises in direct, quick-play and has the ability to find the back of the net with ease. Imagine that at Ibrox, especially considering reports from the Daily Express at the start of the week that Morelos could be sold.

At his age, development under Steven Gerrard at Rangers could be key for Ben Woodburn to go on and forge a successful career.

Tottenham fans take to Twitter to demand Fekir move

Tottenham fans on Twitter have got their sights set on some fancy new signings when the transfer window opens. Considering how far the Lilywhites have come with no signings in 12 months is incredible, so what Mauricio Pochettino could do if he added someone like Nabil Fekir is beyond imagination.

According to these links from Olympique-et-Lyonnais, the Lilywhites have joined the list of clubs, who are looking into the signing of Fekir and the Frenchman would be an incredible signing for the 4th placed Premier League side. Almost any club in the world could use a player like the Lyon star, but given the shakeup that could be set to happen at Spurs, Fekir would be perfect.

Mauricio Pochettino is surely going to be looking at a number of players for a number of positions. Full-backs, central-midfielders and wingers are going to be on the mind of the Argentine, and with Fekir able to fill in as a #8 in midfield and also feature on the wing he could be a perfect fit. At the age of 25-years-old, the Frenchman still has loads to offer too, and anyone would love to add the Lyon man to their side.

You can read the Lilywhites’ thoughts on the Fekir rumours here:

The Lilywhites would love to see Fekir signed and will hope the Frenchman can make a difference next season if he does come in.

Please stay! Crystal Palace fans call for Michy Batshuayi to be signed permanently

[ad_pod ]

Crystal Palace fans on Twitter have called for Michy Batshuayi to be signed on a permanent basis, after his two-goal display against Bournemouth on the final day helped the club achieve their highest points tally for a single Premier League season.

The Belgian international arrived on loan from Chelsea in January, and has hit an impressive five goals in nine league starts for the Eagles; signing him permanently could prove difficult, however, as his parent club Chelsea have been hit with a transfer ban.

Should Crystal Palace keep hold of Max Meyer this summer? Harvey Jones discusses in the video below…

Despite that, a number of fans still want to see him signed due to him excellent performances since arriving at Selhurst Park, where he has helped ease the south Londoners’ lack of goals; Christian Benteke and Connor Wickham finished the campaign with just a single goal each.

The former Marseille forward has quickly become a fan favourite in SE25, so let’s take a look at what the Palace supporters on Twitter have been saying about him after his double against the Cherries…

Transfer Focus: Croft’s admisison suggests Edmundson could be another Rangers bargain

[ad_pod ]

Reports linking Rangers with a move for Oldham Athletic’s George Edmundson have emerged over the course of the week and his former teammate Lee Croft has strongly hinted that he would be an excellent addition to the defensive unit.

What’s the word?

Croft played alongside the 21-year-old during the early stages of his career when he was only a teenager.

He has watched him develop into the coveted talent he is ahead of the summer window, and his glowing comparison with England international James Tarkowski suggests that he possesses the well-rounded set of attributes Rangers will be looking for, per Daily Record.

“I’d probably compare him with James Tarkowski, who came through at Oldham and is now a big player for Burnley in the Premier League and gone on to play for England.

“Like James, George has played a lot of games in the lower divisions and really learned the game in a tough environment.

“He can go all the way like Tarko.”

Another Kamara

Considering Oldham value the rising talent at just £450k, per Daily Mail, Rangers could be staring down the barrel of another bargain akin to the one which saw Glen Kamara arrive at the club for just £50k in January.

The Gers fan favourite is a player who has already showcased a level of potential which hints at a huge future in the game, and the fact Croft has compared Edmundson to Tarkowski is telling: the 21-year-old can become a huge hit at Ibrox.

Tarkowski has blossomed into one of the most consistent central defenders in English football at Burnley, impressing with his stark defensive qualities and composure in possession of the ball.

If Edmundson is indeed destined to go down a similar path, Rangers fans could have a new hero on their hands should he sign for the club this summer.

Bargain signings are becoming a concept of the past, particularly for young players with huge potential, but Kamara has proven that rough diamonds are still waiting to be picked.

Croft’s admission suggests Rangers have already set their sights on a comparably cunning acquisition.

Not worth that: Tottenham fans agree with club’s stance after learning Zaha price

[ad_pod ]

According to the London Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur have pulled out of the race to sign Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha.

And it would be fair to say that the Spurs fans agree with their club’s stance after learning of the huge sum that it would take to sign Zaha this summer.

Indeed, Palace are believed to have placed a £100m value on the Ivory Coast international.

The 26-year-old scored 10 times and registered 10 assists in 34 Premier League appearances for the Eagles during the 2018-19 campaign.

At his best, Zaha is a brilliant talent capable of causing absolute havoc.

However, £100m is a lot of money for a player who has not shown that he can influence matches at the highest level.

Tottenham supporters are, obviously, desperate to see their club spend big this summer, but many agree that paying out for Zaha is not good business.

A selection of the Twitter reaction can be seen below:

Leeds United: Whites must steer clear of signing Michael Frey this summer

Having suffered an incredibly disappointing end to the 2018/19 campaign, Leeds United’s future suddenly looks very unclear.

With Marcelo Bielsa yet to commit to a new deal at Elland Road, it would not be at all surprising if the Whites end up having to recruit a new manager this summer.

However, when you consider that the Argentine is immensely popular amongst Leeds’ supporters, they will be hoping that chairman Andrea Radrizzani can offer the necessary incentives required to keep him at the club.

Yet regardless of who is in charge at Elland Road next season, in order to launch a sustained push for promotion the Whites must get their recruitment spot on over the coming months.

Although the club need to bring in a forward to challenge the likes of Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford, they should steer clear of signing Michael Frey when the transfer window opens in July.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the 24-year-old is reportedly on Leeds’ radar despite experiencing a difficult year with Turkish side Fenerbahce.

Having scored just three goals in 14 league appearances for the Istanbul-based side, it would be a huge risk for Leeds to take if they were to bring him in, especially when you consider that is extremely injury-prone.

During the last six months alone, the £2.25m-rated ace (via Transfermarkt) has been sidelined on four different occasions with his inability to stay fit clearly hampering his development as a player.

Instead of wasting their money on Frey, the Whites should focus instead on targeting a marksman who has a track-record of firing in the goals in English football.

What do you think Leeds fans? Would signing Frey this summer be a mistake? Who do you want your side to sign in the transfer window? Let us know below.
