Everton: "Quality" £20m star will be "veering away" from joining Dyche

Everton target Anthony Elanga is 'veering away' from a move to Goodison Park and will instead keep his 'options open' this summer as he finds himself out of favour at Manchester United, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Is Anthony Elanga moving to Everton?

As per BBC Sport, Everton have been interested in Elanga this window and Manchester United are believed to be open to letting him go for a fee in the region of £15-20 million.

Nevertheless, The Daily Mail report that Elanga isn't keen on a move to Goodison Park this summer and has in fact turned down the chance to work under Sean Dyche as he assesses his options.

The outlet claim that Elanga and Everton have held discussions over a potential switch; however, the player has 'ruled out' the possibility of heading to the Toffees over doubts over his suitability as a player to Dyche's tactical framework.

Elanga has previously been linked with Everton and was close to joining the club on loan in January before his move was blocked by Manchester United at the last minute, according to The Manchester Evening News.

Intriguingly, the same publication state that Nottingham Forest have also expressed a desire to try and take Elanga to the City Ground and it is rumoured that Manchester United could half their asking price to £10 million.

And, it now looks as if he is set to join the Nottinghamshire club.

Last term, Elanga, who was hailed as a "quality" player, made 26 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United, registering two assists in total, as per Transfermarkt.

Speaking to Football FanCast, transfer insider Jones doesn't think that Elanga will envisage himself moving to Everton any time soon.

Jones stated: "Elanga looked like he was going to be, not a central figure at Man Utd, but certainly a first-team figure at Man Utd at one stage and he was probably enjoying being part of that trajectory. If he's going to contemplate a move. I think that he'll want to be veering away from the side that has been so much of the game on the back foot and that are going to be relying a lot on set pieces and moments in games rather than dominating them. Maybe he's just trying to keep his options open to make sure that he lands a move that actually suits him, but from an Everton point of view, yeah, I think it'd be quite disappointing as he holds good value in this market."

Who else does Sean Dyche want to bring to Everton?

Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has detailed that Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma is closing in on a move to Everton, stating on Twitter: "Danjuma will undergo medical tests as new Everton player in the next days, it could be weekend — not today. Agreement reached on loan deal from Villarreal until June 2024, as reported earlier. Danjuma has accepted — he already spoke to Sean Dyche. Here we go."

Leeds United forward Wilfried Gnonto is reportedly willing to swap Elland Road for Goodison Park this summer, though a fee is still to be agreed by both parties, as per FootballTransfers.

Ajax striker Brian Brobbey is being lined up as a potential solution to Everton's goalscoring woes and boss Dyche is keen on pushing a move through for the Dutchman, as per Football Insider.

Everton look like they're about to start ramping up their transfer business and it could be an exciting few weeks for Toffees' supporters as new arrivals draw closer.

Newcastle Could Replace Schar With £15m Warrior At St James’

Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon capped off a long season with a winner’s medal at the U21 European Championship on Saturday.

The Toon winger helped his country to win the tournament as they beat Spain U21s 1-0 in the final in Georgia, with Liverpool’s Curtis Jones scoring the only goal of the match.

Eddie Howe will surely have been paying attention to his attacker’s performances across the competition but other players may have caught his eye in the process.

The Magpies were linked with interest in Manchester City central defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis earlier this summer and the U21 captain was a rock at the back throughout the Euros.

He started five of their six matches, only missing out on their last group-stage clash with Germany, as England managed to end the tournament without conceding a single goal.

PIF must now free up the funds to allow Dan Ashworth and Howe to sign the 21-year-old as he could be the dream heir to Fabian Schar at St. James’ Park in the years to come.

How good is Taylor Harwood-Bellis?

The 21-year-old's performances for club and country over the last nine months suggest that the colossal defender, who is reportedly valued at £15m by City, has the potential to be an excellent player for the Magpies.

He averaged a phenomenal Sofascore rating of 7.26 at the U21 Euros and won an impressive 86% of his ground duels, while also boasting a 90% pass accuracy.

His form for England came off the back of an exceptional season with Burnley in the Championship where the 6 foot 2 ace averaged an impressive Sofascore rating of 7.21 over 32 league appearances for the Clarets and came out on top in 65% of his battles on the ground.

Harwood-Bellis, who his former manager Tony Mowbray claimed has a "warrior mentality", is yet to make his Premier League debut, which means that it remains to be seen whether or not he will be able to translate his form for Burnley and England in the top-flight.

Burnley loanee Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

However, the potential is clearly there for an exciting youngster who could be the dream heir to 31-year-old Fabian Schar if he can make the step up.

The Switzerland international averaged a Premier League Sofascore rating of 7.13, which placed him fourth in the squad, and won 62% of his individual ground duels last season.

This indicates that the defensive titan could be an upgrade on the current Toon star if he can replicate his Championship form at the top level.

Schar also ranks above the average for players in his position in the Men's Big Five Leagues and European competitions for progressive passes and progressive carries per 90 over the last 365 days, although he does not crack the top 25% in either statistic.

To put that into context, Harwood-Bellis is among the top 25% of centre-backs across the Men's Next Eight Competitions during the same period for both, while he sits in the top 4% for progressive passes per 90.

This suggests that the towering Englishman is capable of producing consistently excellent and dominant performances at the back while being superb at progressing play through his ability on the ball.

Therefore, the Manchester City prospect would be the perfect player to replace Schar as he has the potential to be a fantastic long-term signing for Newcastle.

New Zealand caught out in difficult Eden

Kane Williamson lamented a New Zealand batting display which did not adjust to a challenging pitch at Eden Park in the deciding ODI

Andrew McGlashan in Auckland04-Mar-2017Kane Williamson lamented a New Zealand batting display which did not adjust to a challenging pitch at Eden Park in the deciding ODI. For the second time in the series they were bowled out well inside the 50 overs, and though Williamson said conditions were difficult he believed the batsman could have been smarter.South Africa did not find it easy, either, until the target came into view and the chase was finished in a hurry. AB de Villiers said he would have been concerned with a chase of much over 200 and had targeted working through New Zealand for 150 after nabbing their big names early.Martin Guptill fell in the fifth over and by the end of the 16th, Williamson and Ross Taylor had also departed, the captain to a run-out after a poor call from Dean Brownlie.  There had only been six lower completed first innings at the ground, the most recent of those being 141 by Sri Lanka in 2004.”It was far from easy, but that’s when fight needs to be shown to get a competitive score,” Williamson said. “A lot of the time at Eden Park it’s hard to know what a good score is. So that’s where that assessment needs to take place and build those partnerships. We couldn’t do that today. South Africa bowled well and made it very tough.”As he had in Wellington, Williamson referenced the difficulty of rotating the strike on a drop-in wicket where the ball does not run easily over the square. That was particularly evident against Imran Tahir who bowled his ten overs for a stifling 14 runs – the thriftiest ten-over spell by a spinner in New Zealand – as he benefited from batsmen hemmed in by the early pressure.”It is tough to rotate the strike out there and when you are under pressure and lose wickets that is something you look to do to bring some momentum back and that wasn’t happening,” Williamson said. “You need to appreciate that at Eden Park and look to skin it another way. Perhaps our batting smarts weren’t quite where we needed to be.”We lost a number of wickets around Imran which made it difficult. We needed two guys to stick there for a death phase so we had wickets in hand so we could go harder.”Although New Zealand set a solid total in Christchurch and had the Guptill-inspired chase in Hamilton, this series has raised questions about areas of the top order, notably Guptill’s opening partner and how they shuffle the middle order to accommodate the allrounders and wicketkeeper. However, despite this hefty defeat which ended their unbeaten home record in ODI series dating back to 2014, Williamson believed it had been another season of solid white-ball results, with victories over Bangladesh and Australia.”We would have loved to have won the series, but there’s been some really, really good cricket played against some highly-ranked opposition. We’ve had a tough summer of one-day cricket,” he said. “There have been some steps of improvement, new guys have come in and done well and that’s all important moving forward. You want to breed that depth so guys can come in and make the difference. We’ve seen good signs of that.”New Zealand’s next one-day cricket is a triangular series in Ireland in May, also involving Bangladesh, before the Champions Trophy. New Zealand’s IPL-bound players, who include Williamson, Guptill, Trent Boult and Tim Southee, will be allowed to skip that series if their franchises are still in the tournament. Batsmen George Worker, Tom Bruce and Henry Nicholls will be in contention to fill in for the absentees, along with Seth Rance, Hamish Bennett and Scott Kuggeleijn with the ball.

Arsenal Could Ditch Nketiah For "Talented" £75m Dynamo

Despite Arsenal running Manchester City close for the Premier League title, up until the final few weeks that is, Mikel Arteta will be determined to use this failure to secure silverware as motivation ahead of next season.

With Champions League football soon to be gracing the Emirates pitch for the first time since the 2016/2017 season, Arteta will be looking at improving the quality of his squad during the summer transfer window, with players required in defence, midfield, and attack if they wish to challenge domestically and in Europe.

The Gunners have recently shown interest in Chelsea forward Kai Havertz, as he looks set to depart Stamford Bridge this summer according to Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian.

The German international will cost a pretty penny however, with a fee of around £75m required to complete any potential move during the transfer window and Arteta may have to move on a few players in order to balance the books to make a move possible.

One such player that could potentially make way is Eddie Nketiah, as Havertz could certainly be an upgrade on the Arsenal striker.

Could Kai Havertz replace Eddie Nketiah at Arsenal?

The Englishman scored just nine goals across 39 matches for the Gunners last term, with four coming in the Premier League and he ranked eighth for goals and assists, seventh for shots on target per game and second for big chances missed, indicating he wasn’t at his best in front of goal throughout the league campaign.

Former Gunners icon Ian Wright criticised the striker for being “very poor” during their third round FA Cup loss to Nottingham Forest in January 2022 and the £100k-per-week dud simply cannot be relied upon to score 15–20 goals a season.

Havertz on the other hand, despite a poor individual season for the forward, still scored more league goals than Nketiah, netting seven to his four, while he ranked second out of the whole Chelsea squad for goals and assists and shots on target per game, although he did rank first for big chances missed, suggesting that his composure could be worked on.

Aged just 23, the former Bayer Leverkusen whiz has still yet to reach his prime and this could be a huge bonus for Arteta, as he looks to build a squad of core players who have experience yet aren’t approaching their 30s and Havertz fits the bill.

Graham Potter dubbed him “incredibly talented” and he could go on to fulfil his attacking potential at the Emirates, especially with an attack-minded coach such as Arteta, as he has been shackled this season at Chelsea.

The fee could be a stumbling block, however, if the Stamford Bridge side bring the price down, this could surely tempt the Spaniard into a move.

Man Utd: Behind-The-Scenes Move Made To Replace De Gea

Manchester United are now targeting Juventus keeper and former Arsenal star Wojciech Szczesny this summer, according to reports.

Could Wojciech Szczesny leave Juventus for the Premier League?

That is from Calciomercato, who have reported in the last 48 hours that Szczesny is the subject of interest from the Premier League as United register their interest with the Serie A outfit.

The 33-year-old has one year remaining on his contract and earns €7m per season (£6m/season). For this reason, Juve are reportedly satisfied to let the goalkeeper leave to eliminate his wages (£115k/week) from their wage bill.

Should a suitable offer be received, it will apparently be considered. Manchester United have "have registered some movement" behind the scenes as they jostle for the 6 ft 4 star's signature.

Man United boss Erik ten Hag

Former coach Guido Nanni told Tutto Juve that although the goalkeeper is "world class", he should extend his terms with the Italian outfit.

He said: “He is a world-class goalkeeper, he has already worn the jerseys of top European clubs and can safely continue on this road. He would be up to Barcelona, Real, Atletico or even Bayern.

“I advise him to renew, why shouldn’t I do that? Especially if Juventus were to rebuild a very important team.”

Why do Manchester United want to sign Wojciech Szczesny?

David De Gea has come in for a lot of criticism this season despite winning the Golden Glove. The Spaniard was blasted by the merciless Roy Keane, who thinks Erik ten Hag's praise for the award is "ridiculous."

Keane told Sky Sports: "They’re all patting De Gea on the back there… I’d move him on quickly. He wouldn’t be for me, he’s not going to get Manchester United back winning trophies, absolutely not.

"The idea that the players are patting him on the back is ridiculous, that’s his job."

Szczesny has been identified as an alternative option to De Gea after his strong showing this season in Serie A. He has Premier League experience from his time with Arsenal and if ten Hag pushes for him, he would make a fine alternative to De Gea.

Man United conceded 43 Premier League goals this season. Defence is an area that needs to improve hugely next season if the Red Devils are going to challenge Arsenal and Man City for the title.

£60m-Rated Man City Player Struggling To Seal Etihad Exit

There could be a Manchester City return for Joao Cancelo on the horizon, with Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg reporting that Bayern Munich are finding it "difficult" to get a deal done for the defender.

Where is Joao Cancelo?

Pep Guardiola's side utilised the Portugal international plenty of times when he first completed a switch to the Etihad Stadium, giving him 17 Premier League outings in the campaign when he first arrived. Cancelo then went on to play a further 28 times with five goal contributions a campaign later before really making his mark in the 2021/22 season.

That year, the defender was a first-team regular and made 36 appearances for the club in the league with seven assists and one goal. Despite that form, he was in and out of the City first-team from that point onwards and was ultimately shipped off to current club Bayern Munich on loan. That didn't stop him from being named in the FIFPro World Eleven though for his showings throughout 2022.

Joao Cancelo is set to leave Manchester City.

Since his move to the Bundesliga, he has once more managed to produce in terms of his assists (4) but has still only earned ten starts for the German giants. However, with the 28-year-old proving to be a useful option, they might have hoped to land the player permanently beyond this campaign. With City adding in a buy option on the deal, it makes it even more possible that it could happen.

How much is Cancelo worth?

However, a fresh report from Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Bayern may find it "difficult" to get a permanent deal done for Cancelo. A buy clause is reportedly set at 70 million Euros (£60m) but that the Bundesliga side may still struggle to finalise an agreement.

"News Cancelo: Been told that it‘s very difficult to sign him permanently. Even Cancelo himself does not expect to play for Bayern beyond the end of the season. Tendency at this stage: He will leave Bayern in summer but the bosses are trying to find a solution. Option to buy: €70m (£60m)."

The Premier League side do have options on both flanks currently but when Cancelo was at his peak at the Etihad Stadium, he was hard for opposition players to deal with.

Even before the player was shipped off to Bayern Munich he impressed in England. Despite having to work with just a handful of games, he still produced a 7.04 rating on WhoScored and still managed to bag himself two goals and one assist along the way. At his very peak for City during that 2021/22 campaign, he managed a 7.42 rating – an incredible tally for a player who produced both offensively and defensively for the side.

If City were to get Cancelo back onside then and fit him into their team, they would undoubtedly be stronger for it. Bayern though will most certainly want to try and keep the 28-year-old if they can.

Chelsea Set To Make Bid For £69m "Defensive Monster"

Chelsea are set to make a bid for Barcelona's Raphinha this summer, with the winger edging towards an exit from Camp Nou, according to recent reports from Spain.

What's the latest Raphinha transfer news?

Raphinha appears to be a subject of interest for a number of Premier League clubs, with it recently being reported Arsenal are pushing to sign him this summer, with sporting director Edu making constant calls to orchestrate a deal.

The same report outlines that the Brazilian may be pushed down the pecking order at the Camp Nou if Lionel Messi returns, although French media outlet AFP have recently claimed the Argentine will be playing his football in Saudi Arabia next season.

Either way, it seems as though there will be a number of teams in for the Barca winger this summer, with Newcastle United also being linked, and Chelsea could now be set to make the first move.

According to reports from Spain (via Sport Witness), the Blues are going to bid for the 26-year-old, and formal talks are set to commence immediately, in order to secure his services ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

The player's agent, Deco, is keen for his client to listen to offers from the Premier League, and the west London club are said to be keen, having previously came close to signing the former Leeds United man last summer.

However, the Brazil international will not come cheap, as the La Liga club are hoping to sell him for €80m (£69m) before June 30th, and it remains to be seen whether Chelsea are willing to meet such a huge asking price.

Should Chelsea sign Raphinha?

Having amassed eight goals and nine assists for Barca this season, the second-highest number of goal contributions in the squad, it is fair to say the attacker has been a success in his first season at Camp Nou.

That is also indicated by the fact he is ranked as the Spanish club's joint-best performing player in La Liga by Sofascore, having averaged a match rating of 7.30, so it is surprising they are willing to let him leave.

While the Porto Alegre-born star has made his name due to the threat he poses on the front foot, journalist Muhammad Butt has also praised the work he does on the other side of the ball, describing him as a "defensive monster".

Raphinha would be a fantastic signing for Chelsea, but the only issue is the huge transfer fee being demanded by Barcelona, and they should not be held to ransom, given that a new striker must be the priority, due to their torrid record in front of goal.

Sussex frustrated by Mustafizur delay

Mark Davis has spoken about Sussex’s frustration in having to wait for Mustafizur Rahman, one of the club’s overseas signings, to arrive. Mustafizur has been working to regain fitness after the IPL and his stint in England remains uncertain.Davis, Sussex’s head coach, said the club was struggling to find another replacement for Mustafizur, after South Africa allrounder David Wiese departed for the CPL. Wiese was initially signed as cover for two games at the start of June but ended up making four NatWest T20 Blast appearances. Ahead of their game against Gloucestershire on Sunday, Sussex will also be without Chris Jordan who is away on England duty.”We have a couple of people but it is very late in the day so it is very hard to get replacements,” Davis told the Brighton-based . “The top players in the world have been signed, or are playing CPL, or their countries aren’t allowing them to play. That’s the frustration because we have chosen Mustafizur as probably the No. 1 bowler in the world in that format.”On June 9, the Bangladesh physio Bayjidul Islam had said that Mustafizur would take at least two weeks to be ready but last week, trainer Mario Villavarayan said he would require another month to recover from his injuries.Sussex had earlier said they would be happy to wait for Mustafizur, at least until June 10, but that time has now passed. Davis said he had only been able to get advice from Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurusingha but he was confident that Mustafizur would show up for his side.”I spoke to the Bangladesh head coach and he said he would be assessed after two weeks, which is now,” Davis said. “It hasn’t been easy to nail Bangladesh down. Their coach has been the one I have got most direction from. But we are also dealing with physios and trainers who are putting things on the internet. I am sure we will get it nailed down.”

Arsenal Among Main Contenders To Sign £80m Star

Arsenal are among the main contenders to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic this summer, according to a recent report from CalcioMercato.

What's the latest news involving Dusan Vlahovic?

Vlahovic looks like he could be on his way to the Premier League this summer, with a number of top clubs said to be interested in the striker, including Arsenal, and the player himself would "definitely" be keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium.

There is set to be competition for the Serbian's signature, however, with Manchester United also being named as potential suitors, while Chelsea could look to sign him in a swap deal, with Christian Pulisic going in the opposite direction.

Journalist Pete O'Rourke has recently talked up the forward, describing him as a "proven striker", who would be a "big-name signing" for the Gunners, and it appears as though they will be near the front of the queue this summer.

According to a report from CalcioMercato (via Sport Witness), Arsenal are still among the main contenders for the Juventus star, and there is a growing possibility that he will be available this summer.

The 23-year-old's recent performances mean that he is no longer untouchable at the Allianz Stadium, and the Serie A club could look to cash-in this summer, although they want at least €90m (£80m) to sanction his departure.

Not only will the Gunners have to fend off interest from other Premier League clubs, but Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are all said to be in the race for the marksman's signature this summer.

Should Arsenal sign Dusan Vlahovic?

As referenced in the report, the Belgrade-born attacker has not been at his best recently, and he is now without a goal in his last eight Serie A games, however this is his first real dip in form since bursting onto the scene with Fiorentina.

The Serbia international scored a remarkable 24 league goals during spells with Fiorentina and Juventus last season, the second-highest amount in the Italian top flight.

Juventus'DusanVlahoviccelebrates after the match.

Hailed as an "absolute beast" by sections of the media, the former Fiorentina man is a proven goal-scorer, and Arsenal may need competition for Gabriel Jesus next season, considering Folarin Balogun's future is in major doubt.

Vlahovic's recent form is cause for some concern, but his previous exploits indicate it will only be a temporary dip in form, and the Gunners should continue to monitor his performances between now and the end of the season.
